Light therapy is an advanced therapy that uses photons, the basic unit of light, to carry energy to a biological area which stimulates tissue repair and pain relief.
Light(photons) applied to tissue » Absorption in the Mitochondria and cell Membrane by Chromophores » Elevation of ATP synthesis; Formation of low amounts of ROS (reactive oxygen species) » DNA & RNA synthesis; protein synthesis; mitosis, and cell proliferation » tissue repair and pain relief.
Just as the name says our orthotics are made “custom” for you. We use a state of the art scanner to take detailed measurements of your foot in order to design the very best fitting orthotic possible.
Neurological tests, or nerve conduction studies, are important in diagnosing problems related to nerves, muscles, spinal cord or the brain. These tests measure the speed and intensity of electrical signals through nerves and calculate the time and velocity in which muscles respond to these impulses.
Because nerves actually produce small amounts of electricity, their activity can be affected by disease, injury, or other conditions. Diagnosis is extremely important in helping your doctor develop your treatment plan.
Flexion distraction is another form of manipulation that uses a specific table to create spinal distraction (separation of the vertebrae). This advanced procedure is not meant to replace any of the valid, successful techniques of Chiropractic but rather it is an additional therapy in the armamentarium of the Chiropractic doctor.
Flexion Distraction is good for:
Functional rehabilitation is not just the building of muscle strength and endurance. It is creating and establishing complex movement patterns as well as strength, endurance and flexibility.
A piece of equipment commonly used by Chiropractors is the interferential current machine. This machine produces electrical currents that pass through the affected area of the patient. The current tends to penetrate deeper than other electrical modalities and has a number of physiological effects that have therapeutic value.
Manipulation is performed to correct a dysfunctional joint and increase its range of motion. The majority of manipulation is done to the spine but can be performed to any joint in the body such as hip, wrist, shoulder, etc. Manipulation should be performed with only as little force as is required. It is a subtle, gentle and controlled procedure that can be performed on nearly every injured joint in the body in various ways. Manipulative procedures range from very gentle, non-force mobilizations to more intense adjustments in which audible sounds are heard. Not all manipulation procedures are appropriate for all patients or conditions. Proper diagnosis is important to determine what will work best for the individual situation.
Our massage therapists are trained in relaxation techniques as well as deep muscle massage. They work in conjunction with the doctors to provide the best possible results. The benefits of massage are numerous from increasing joint range of motion to pain relief. Virtually anyone can benefit from therapeutic massage including athletes for sports enhancement, business professionals for decreasing postural strain, elderly and pregnant women.
Poor posture creates muscle imbalances, in-coordination, and other dysfunctions. These problems can be identified by postural analysis, gait analysis, muscle length tests, and evaluation of key movement patterns. These imbalances are many times the reason why pain recurs and conditions become chronic. Our focus is to treat and educate patients on how they can correct these problems whether it be while working at the office or working around the house.
Ultrasound is a therapeutic modality that has been used by Chiropractors since the 1940s. Ultrasound is applied using a round-headed wand or probe that is put in direct contact with the patient’s skin. Ultrasound can produce many effects other than just the potential heating effect. It has been shown to cause increases in tissue relaxation, local blood flow, and scar tissue breakdown. The effect of the increase in local blood flow can be used to help reduce local swelling and chronic inflammation, and, according to some studies, promote bone fracture healing.
